R-503 Parametric Equalizer + 2 Shelf Baxandall (Bax) bands

€ 610

R-503 is an advanced parametric + Baxandall (BAX) equalizer conceived to offer to the API 500 user the superior audio performance of the ARREL Audio high level series products. The unit offers to the 500 user high reliability, rugged design, outstanding audio quality, versatility and ease of use typical of the tradition of ARREL Audio products.

Due to the presence of front panel in out Bantam connectors the R-503 can be easily “patched” with other modules of the R-500 series (R-501 ELITE, R-509, or other units) without the needs to access to the back panel.

The R-503 equalizer is based on the Livio Agentini’ s "Single-Stage Parallel Configuration" patented design. This innovative phase coherent EQ design offers the lowest distortion/noise specifications, not available in other products.

The R-503 filtering section offers three bands LO, Parametric, HI.

The HI and LO sections are shelving Baxandall (BAX) filters. Three position switches (for HI and LO shelf) are used to implement three different shelving frequency responses.

The emphasis/de-emphasis control range for the Bax bands is +/-14 dB.<\p>

The MID filter is a parametric bell shaped filter, with continuous control of the central frequency on three different bands (20Hz/200Hz, 200Hz/2000Hz, 2kHz/20kHz)selected by a switch (F/10, F x 1, F x 10 ). The Q value (narrow, mid, wide) is selected by a switch. The emphasis/de-emphasis control range for the parametric band is +/-12 dB

A bypass switch is used for a true analog by-pass function (LED).

The R-503 coupled with the R-509 and the R-501 ELITE allows to build a complete channel strip by patching the modules using the BANTAM connectors on the front panel with an incredible added flexibility.

R-503 is is one of the models of the serie of equalizers that ARREL Audio conceived for the 500 series (the other models are R-502, R-504, R-505, R-506, R-509) in order to give to the user the best choice for its application.

R-503 is dedicated (due to his absolute sonic level quality) to high professional vocal recordings, classical instruments, high dynamic range instruments such as drums and percussions.

    R-503 Key-Technologies

  • LARGE BANDWIDTH (LBW)

Large Bandwidth (LB) means a very fast transient response able to represent the original sound with the maximum temporal resolution. LB is required to improve the perception of a “real sound” and to represent the details of the original sound.
  • PERFECT SQUARE WAVE (PSW)

Large bandwidth plus very low total harmonic distortion means a perfect square wave reproduction.
  • ULTRA LOW NOISE (ULN)

Ultra Low Noise (ULN) active and passive components and ULN design techniques. This requirement is especially important when the audio bandwidth is large as in the case of ARREL Audio products.
  • HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR)

High Dynamic Range (HDR) means that the saturation probability of the output stages is very low. This is obtained by using special rail to rail circuits and by increasing the power supply voltage of the analog circuits.
  • ELECTROMECHANICAL FAULT TOLERANCE (EFT)

Electromechanical tolerance means that electromechanical components are doubled in every situation in which maximum reliability it is important due to a frequent use (switches, push buttons, potentiometers).
  • THROUGH-HOLE TECHNOLOGY (THT)

Through Hole technology means the maximum reliability in terms of thermal and mechanical stresses especially for connectors and electromechanical components.
  • LOW PHASE DISTORTION EQ (LPHD EQ)

Special patented circuits guarantees very low phase distortion in ARREL equalizers and filters.
